Are you a notary public or a commissioner of oaths?
Both. That matters because the two roles cover different things: a commissioner administers oaths and affirmations for sworn statements used in Ontario, while a notary public can also certify true copies and notarize documents intended for use outside Canada. You do not have to work out which you need before arriving.
How long does an appointment usually take?
Most visits are a matter of minutes once your identification and documents are in order. What causes delay is almost always paperwork — documents already signed, photocopies instead of originals, or a form that needs a witness who is not present. Calling ahead on 416-951-3301 avoids nearly all of it.
What areas do you serve?
Our office is in Scarborough and clients travel to us from across the GTA — Toronto, North York, Markham, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Mississauga, Pickering, Ajax and Whitby, as well as further afield in Ontario. Each location page has directions and travel times from that city.
How do you charge?
By notarization signature, not by page or document. It is $20 for the first, $15 each for two to five, and $10 each beyond five. Affidavits, powers of attorney and invitation letters are $70; apostille service is $100. We take cash and e-Transfer, and printing and copying on site is free.
