What Notarization Does — and Does Not Do

What the notary is confirming

A notary public verifies your identity, witnesses you signing the document, and applies a signature and seal. What that proves is who signed and that they signed in front of the notary. It does not confirm that the statements in the document are true, and it does not make an otherwise invalid document valid.

How the fee works

Fees are based on the number of notarization signatures, not the number of pages or documents. One signature is $20; if you have several documents to sign in the same visit, the per-signature price drops to $15 each for two to five, and $10 each beyond that. We will tell you the exact total before we start.

Documents people bring most often

Consent to travel letters for children, statutory declarations, sponsorship and immigration paperwork, property and financial documents, employment and education letters, and forms sent by institutions abroad.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does notarization prove my document is true?

No. Notarization confirms your identity and that you signed in front of the notary. It does not verify the contents, and it cannot make an invalid document valid. That distinction matters if an institution tells you a document must be "certified true" instead.

Why is the price based on signatures rather than documents?

Because the notarial act is the witnessing and sealing of a signature. A five-page contract with one signature is one notarization; three separate one-page declarations are three. That is why the fee is $20 for the first, then $15 each for two to five, and $10 each beyond five.

What happens if I already signed the document?

The notary generally cannot notarize a signature they did not witness. In most cases you will need to sign a fresh copy at the appointment — we offer free printing on site, so bring the file if you can.

How much does Notarization Of Documents cost?

Service fee: $20 (single document) , $15 each (2–5 documents) , $10 each (5+ documents). Fees are determined by the number of notarization signatures, not the number of documents. We accept Cash and e-Transfer.

Do I need an appointment?

What should I bring?

A valid government-issued photo ID (Passport or Driver’s License) and your documents, unsigned — the notary must witness your signature. If you need certified copies, bring the original documents. Free printing and copying is available.
